Electrical Question

I have some auxiliary lighting to wire up. Wiring it up looks to be fairly easy however I don't care for the switch provided with the kit. FUGLY.

I bought one that I like from Radio Shack that look a lot cleaner and the light will match the dash lights better. However it's rated for 25A at 12VDC. I noticed this after the fact, n00b. The switch that came with the kit, Hella Black Magics, is rated at 30A at 12VDC. Yes to be safe I should get a 30A switch but will the 25A switch work just fine?

Ideally you should wire the lights with a relay, and then there is less than 1A going through the switch.

Thanks for the tip eric. Yes there's an inline relay of 12V/30A and I suppose I got that number mixed up with the switch which prompted me topost here. Upon further inspection of the stock switch there's a sticker on it that says "DC 12V 20A" so the ones I bought can actually handle more since they're rated at 25A 12VDC. This should be fine coorect?

As you can tell I'm new to this stuff but the instructions look easy enough to follow.

I will second that... never want to run that much power through the dash and a small switch, thats what relays are for...

A little info on wiring up extra lights.

Ditch the Hella switch too, and go to your Toyota dealer and get the switch in the write-up.
It fits Toyota dash cutouts.
