Gota quick question for any body, but more specifically Jason B. I read in Jason's write up of the deck plate mod that I should remove the EFI fuse(I hope that is the right one that I wanted to refer too). But there is a big one on the right and a very little one on the left that has 15A9(I think) printed on top of it. Now is it the little one on the left or the big one on the right that I want to remove?
Also I have a few questions about that,
1. What exactly does that do and what is the beinifit of it?
2. Is there an amount of time it needs to be out or just pop it off and back on?
Thanks in advance.

Remove the little 15A fuse.
I usually leave it out for 10-15 minutes.
When in doubt, you can always disconnect the negative battery terminal. Of course, you'll have to reset all your radio stations.

I removed mine when I started the mod... put it back in when I finished so it was removed for about 2 hours.

this might sound like a stupid question but dose efi stand for electronic fuel injection and do you remoe it to reset it so that after the mod has been carried out it relearns with the different air flow or what?

Pull the fuse. It may or may not help, but it doesn't hurt a thing to try it.

little helpful insider hint guys...
removing the 15A efi fuse only erases the idle speed memory of the ecu-- not the internal stored code logic and adaptive fuel mapping. A shop foreman at toyota told me this when I asked how he knew certain customers kept pulling fuses-- he said the computer stored everything in memory ( how many times someone pulled the fuse, the date, how fast you were going, what gear you were in, the outside temp, the throttle position, knock sensor memory and a whole host of other stuff youd think they wouldnt know at the dealer )
If you really wanna get sneaky and clear your engine codes without resetting your radio stations, put a diode and a little backup battery on the radio constant lead, so you can pull the battery cable as many times as you want without the stations dissapearing.
just a helpful hint

Okay, another question, I have studdy fingers, how the heck do I manage to yank that lil' fuse out. Should I ask my girlfriend to take try with her little fingers, haha. But seriously what is the best way to do so. Also, call me stupid but what is this about removing my neg. battery cable. Should I do this and take off the fuse, or do this before I take it out, afte, what or when. (Dang now that I read that it makes me feel even dumber.)
Brandon as for answering your question about removing your feuse after your exhast mod. I think I'll leave that to someone that knows a little more than me(which seems to be everyone right now, LOL). This is certainly not my dept. YET at least.

Stump- As far as my question, I decided I might as well shortly after I posted, so I guess I'll find out
I'm with you on the Stubby fingers, for the little fuses I use just a pair of needle nose pliers and have no problem getting them out, and to put them in, just push em back
I didn't bother removing my neg battery cable, simply because I'm too lazy to reprogram my radio
I didn't get shocked or anything, so I'm guessing it's all right

I've got the same sort of problem pulling fuses (except I've got great big tree stumps instead of little stubbies
).
Poking around in the local bone yard I found a little plastic fuse puller that looks like a small clothes pin, it works great, and it doesn't take any room in the glove compartment either.

Your rig should have come with the little fuse puller thingy. It is mounted on the inside of the fuse box cover in the dash. There are also some extra fuses there. At least there is on my 2002.

Actually all '89 to '95 trucks & 2nd gen 4Runners allready have a fuse puller.
It's under the lid of the fuse box under the hood.
Earlier Toyotas may have it also, but I know the years I listed have it.
It works great. I use it also on the incab fuse box.

hehe yeah I know about the little fuse puller, but unfortunately being the clutz that I am, when I first found it I was trying to take it out, and it fell into the engine compartment never to be seen again... well that is until I pulled back into my drive way and saw broken plastic just behind where my tire was when I left
So i've been using needle nose pliers until I buy a new set of fuses that has one of those things in it

I think whoever had my baby before me, must have lost the fuse puller as well, b/c I have checked both places and no luck. I think I'l just stick to the girlfriends fingers(but seeing how I can't get her near the engine, she scared to break something and make me mad, it's soooo cute) I think I'll go witht eh needle nose pliers. I'm gona go pull that bad boy right now before I head out for class.
