E-Locker Swap - Wiring Question

Just last night i swapped the rear axle in my new 4runner 5speed from my old 4runner limited. im following the instructions on this page and im stuck when it comes to wiring it. I only have the abs harness, not abs+locker. ive ran the wires into the cab but i'm kinda lost from there. can someone else that has put a locker into their 5speed give me some tips on linking the locker to the locker ecu and then to the stock wiring. if possible can you send me a link to an electrical diagram. thanks!

have you considered using a harness from 12voltguy.com ? That's what I used and it took 10 minutes to hook up. Plus you can use the locker anytime with a flip of a switch..

i found this diagram on how to wire the locker. whoever made it spent a good amount of time studying the wiring manual from the factory. after looking at this i was able to get it locking in around an hour. the only drawback is that abs is not disabled and the "diff lock" dash light doesnt appear.

You need the wiring diagram from a 1998 4Runner. There are quite a few links in these two threads that might point you in the right direction.

I'm not sure I exactly follow your problem. Did you pull all the wires from the rear elocker harness into the cab? If so then you shouldn't have any trouble wiring it once you get your hands on the correct wiring diagram (which is in the FSM).

Even when you get it wired correctly you will need to add the bulb in the instrument cluster to get the diff lock light to come on. Assuming your 97 has the position it would not have come from the factory with the bulb installed if it didn't come with an elocker.

Just wondering if you ever got this figured out, im trying the same thing with a 98. This link http://sonoransteel.com/phong/retrof...ic_locker.html

shows only 6 wires on the elocker harness while I have 9. Im guess its because I have a 5 speed and im swapping it from an auto? Can anyone help?
