I shipped a motorhome a couple years ago from a port in Newark, NJ to Southampton, UK. Sale price was $10750. Shipping cost was $2656. The tarriff's when it hit the dock in the UK was $3225 (30% of sale cost). Total (shipping & tarriff's) $5881

When that truck was made, diesels were not very popular in the US except in big trucks. They had a somewhat deserved reputation for being loud, smelly and slow. Hence hardly any manufacturers offered them for the US market. It is only recently that the car-buying public's perception of diesels has become favorable. Who knows, maybe a diesel powered Toy truck is in our future.
