It took 3 weeks for Downey to get the right springs to me after I returned the non-HD ones. Some quick notes before the pics. The space from the top of the wheel to the fender before and after are:

front: before 14.5 after 14.5 (didn't expect that one to change right?)
Rear: before right side 11.5 left 12.00. After 13.75 on both sides

It looks so much better now. Seems like a good investment. I replaced the stock coils in mine last year and got about 2" in the rear (that sound kinda dirty, doesnt it). They only cost me £40, so not expecting them to last. Maybe they will!

Looks great man. I'm saving up some money to get some Downey's for myself. Was the install very difficult? I may have to do it by myself.

It was about a 6 on a scale of 1-10 because I did it by myself. I don't recommend that but I've done clutches before to so I figured why not. Suggestions - get a spring compressor that is easy to turn once the spring is compressed. The bolt on mine would get too close to the spring and then I couldn't use a socket. Using an open end for that sucked. I did the driver's side first and paid for it. Do the passenger side first - the lateral bar mount gets in the way big time. Also - my springs didn't fall out like promised at full droop of the axle but having my daughter stand on the drums helped quite a bit while I was getting the old springs out and the new ones in. Thing rides like a cadillac now. I must have been riding on my bumpstops and not realized it because it is unbelievably better now.

I agree. I'm already at 14.5 so I guess I'll try 14.75 before I go all the way to 15".

I had to adjust mine to 14.75 and that seemed to level my runner; however, I have OME shocks and springs, so it may be different for yours. Although a quarter inch doesn't seem like much, it sure does make a difference.

Have you ever adjusted the torsion bars? If not, you may want to consider getting replacement bolts. I had to get a new set because one of mine wouldn't adjust. If you do get a new pair, use some anti-sieze grease on them so you'll be able to adjust later on.

hmm..now i guess i need to get some downeys to keep up with Victor. i would like to do it myself..but im not to sure about bleeding the brakes...

 

Corey I installed all the extended brackets but haven't done the brake line yet. I left that for another day since the wind outside was blowing at about 30 MPH and the temp dropped - I didn't want to be stuck under the truck and have rain come washing down the street.

 

do you really have to install the new brake lines? is that why you have to beeld them? or because you have to put the relocation bracket on?

 

That is a good looking rig Victor. Your turtle green runner just look like mine, same year, color, and same stripes. So now it rides like a Cadillac, that is sweeet.
Since you already installed them HD Downeys, what will be your next mod? Are you going to install bigger tires or add an Extend-A-Fender flares?

Again, that truck really looks good.
