Does Factory Service Manual = Repair Manual?

A quick question, I see bound "Repair Manuals" on Ebay, but not "Factory Service Manuals" for the 4Runner. Are they the same? Thanks.

That's a question better addressed to the auction lister. If I were to bet on it, I'd guess that the "Repair Manuals" are chilton and/or Haynes (especially if they're less than 15 dollars - now if they're up towards 100$ then its most likely the factory service manual).

But, you're best off asking the lister.

yes, that's straight from Toyota. it's what they use in their service shops. I bought both volumes for my 92 on ebay that were very very slightly used for $30. what a steal that was

Thanks for the help. I haven't found anything yet for the 2001 model, but wanted to make sure I looked for the right manual.

I bought one for my '85 4Runner on eBay. Paid $68 for it, just under the $70 limit I'd set for myself. Two weeks later, an identical one went for $11.

Diito what Bob said...

I was lucky in that I didn't pay a lot for mine, a Yotatech member offered to sell me one for less thant what I was willing to pay, but it's really ugly and not worth the hassle.

and ditto to what mark said.

the user interface is NON-EXISTENT. I had this preconception that there would be some clickable interface or some kind of index page or search box but all it is is pages and pages of pdfs. you have to open every single page to find what you're looking for. the titles on the file names are like "at_fact_98." sounds a lot like "PC Letter Load"...wtf is that?!?!"

If you want one, I've got it. Not on CD, but I have the files for you to burn and the instructions. They weren't pirated or anything AFAIK, it was just a web site from a 'yota aficionado.

I'll have to admit that I paid $15 for one of these .pdf manuals as well. I really want the real deal, but in Acrobat 6 you have the abiliity to search in a directory of .pdfs for a search topic.

Thus, I can search for say, "bumper" in the 4runner directory and it will pull up every hit for bumper in all the directories. Still not great, but for $15, not so bad.

What I'd really like is both, so I could find what I'm looking for in the real deal, and then print out the .pdfs of what I need so I don't damage a high dollar book.
