Ditching my 2nd gen, going for 3rd

In some ways I agree with your decision. You have the chance to get the better v6, a more car-like ride, and if I'm not mistaken your rig is 2wd so you can get 4wd.
Tradeoffs are probably going to be the expensive upgrade to manual hubs (if you want them), and the higher cost since the vehicle is newer.

I nabbed my 99 5spd for 13,000. A 96 auto for around 10,000 shouldnt be impossible.

I agree with as well. I went to a dealer when i was trying to sell my old truck and they told me they would give me 2,500. I turned around and sold it a month later for 8,800.

The water pump likes to go out on the 3.4's also. So that's another thing to check on.
The last thing you want to get stuck with is a huge maintenance bill after your purchase.

I got it with 84k on the dial. Still not a bad price.
L33T35T: My advice to you is to look around for atleast a month. Dont get too anxious or you might end up regretting what you got. If you wait long enough a great deal will come your way.

i forgot to mention. the first one, blue 96, is a mile away from my house. the other one, white 97, is probably... 45 miles away.
I wonder if they'll meet half way?
I'm gonna go look at the 96 today after school, maybe. I'll take my camera
oh, and ssbogger, i am in no hurry to buy a new car, i was just considering and starting to look in to it. i'll take as long as i need until i get the perfect deal

Toyota will verify if you give them your VIN.

L33T35T: I personally like the white 4Runner!

That "blue" one looks purple! Ack. I changed my mind - go for the white one. Also - see if he still has his stock rims in case you don't like the ones on there. The WAAG grillguard looks nice but offers no protection.

I didnt like the place anyway. he took me to the garage to show me another 4runner he had, and he had some little mechanic tearing the engine appart. I just didnt like the place. guy was too "buddy buddy" callin me bro... cussing when he tripped over some long electrical cord that was laying around. just not a good place. not professional
