Our 97 4runner has a hole in one of the hard lines feeding the rear heater core. Seems to be a common problem from what I've seen on the board. Can someone tell me what the steps are to bypass the rear heater?

Also has anyone replaced one of these hard lines? Was it very difficult? I'm guessing its probably not a cheap part from the dealer.

 

If you dont mind a little driving I have all the pieces that you would need for rear heat. Come on up, and I'll just give them to you.

Which hardline is leaking?

 

The line nearest the middle of the engine bay. Thanks for the offer, but I don't think I am feeling like a drive to Washington tomorrow.

 

well if you change your mind, the offer is open. Ill have the parts for a few more weeks.

 

If you can get to the hard line cut out the leaking bit and put a piece of rubber heater hose in the gap, clamped at both ends. There's not a lot of pressure in the heater system so it should hold.

 

Just need to watch out near the exhaust, rubber will melt.
