.....come with a locking diff with an automatic tranny? I read the history section and it says SR5 models didn't come with a locker w/auto but my friend is going to look at a Sport package version with that combo.

Ive got one too. I think that the highlander model was used only 99 and maybe 00. After that they swithed the name to the sport model. Somewhere in there they also switched from a rear locker to a center locking diff. i think in 01.
