Dealership pricing
I just took my 4wd SE into the dealership this weekend for the first oil change. I really wanted to have the service done at the dealership to start just to make sure everything was taken care of and any issues are taken care of. To my surprise, the first service cost $75! I actually looked at two dealerships and the pricing was the same. That price also just appears to be a generic Toyota service price without regard to tye type of vehicle. Does anyone else do their service at the dealership? What price do they pay?
Thanks...... N

Thats nuts, I'm in San Jose and pay $39 for oil change. I have a service book which pay for standard services, but take my Runner in every 2500 miles (book just covers every 5000 miles)
Get a work breakdown of what exactly they do and the charge for the item.

My dealer charges 21.99 for oil changes. NW Suburbs of Chicago. It's actually cheaper than Jiffy Lube and those other 10 minutes places. Takes max 30 minutes, usually much faster. Plus I can check out new Toyotas over in the showroom to kill the time.

But he has an '04...
Find out what they actually do for the $75. Might be more than you're thinking since your truck is new.
If it's just an oil change... that's a ripoff. But then again I don't know how hard it is to change the oil on a 4th gen.

Maybe it was the rotating of the tires? I get my oil changes at Longo Toyota in SoCal and its $25. I once also asked for a tire rotation and they charged me about $20-$40 for it. I forgot exactly how much but it was a ripoff.

I'd be nervous about them washing my rig! Chances are, your wax is gone. Hopefully the paint isn't scratched, either.
Around here, a few dealers are part of the Express Lube group. It's $29 with a guaranteed 29 minute turnaround. They almost never make the 29 minutes, so the next LOF is free. I send family to this one notoriously slow (but thorough) dealer, and they seldom have to pay on return visits.

it looks like they did a minor service instead of a simple oil change to me.
i've yet to take my truck in for any services at the dealership... just $$ for me. I'd much rather do it myself or take it into a smaller shop that'll do it for less.
depending on where you are, there's a great shop in Santa Ana that does oil changes for life of the vehicle but it'll cost ya just shy of $200.00. I think it's a steal but they're not open on the weekends

I was doing that service at the beginning. Mine cost $56.00, which includes an oil change, tire rotation, and some other misc. mumble jumbo checking hoses, and stuff like that. Do my own oil changes now, and rotate my own tires. Total cost $20 for syn. oil, and my time.
