cruise control not working...clutch bushing?

i noticed this about a month ago...the cruise control in my 99 runner stopped working after i replaced the clutch bushing with the #70 spring. it really didnt bother me since i hardly ever get on the highway. however driving back from grandmas on 85 at 10 oclock was really annoying.

has anyone else experienced this loss of cruise control when replacing the clutch bushing with the spring, following bob and unhappy's writeup? or is this just a coincidence, and its something else causing the cruise control not to work? the light still comes on...just doesnt hold the pedal down.

does it work if you hold the 'set' position longer? may need to tighten the cable

check the level of your brake fluid while you are at it, if it is below the lower limit the cruise will not activate.

Mine does the same after replacing the torsion spring with the linear spring. The replacement does not hold the pedal up tight enough, and that will disengage your cruise at the pedal switch. You can try a tighter spring or as in my case, I don't use my cruise enough to worry about it. If you feel your spring is tight enough, it's not. It is the rough surface of the road and the pedal bouncing that is disengaging your cruise at the pedal switch.
