Does anybody know of a way to add cruise control to a 1994 Toyota Pickup with the 3VZE? I called a shop here and they said it can be done, but they won't do it because it's very hard to do, since it's vacuum operated. I know nothing about cruise control except that the 2 hour drive home without it really sucks. Does the shop know what they're talking about or what? Can it be done? Thanks for any/all help, guys.

save your money for the toys! i wish my digital camera wasn't busted so i can show you a pic of my cruise control. anyways, i'll describe it:

1) put your foot on the gas pedal
2) put your other foot behind it

Seriously, thats what i do. something about setting and using cruise control freaks me out. if it was a ford, I'd disable it!

I'm a tall guy and I have big honkin feet, so it's hard to keep the truck at a constant speed on the highways. I often look at the speedo and find myself speeding. Plus, the way I have to sit with my foot on the accelerator in such a way to where it won't get out of control that much, and doing that hurts my back after 30 mins or so. So I'd consider this a very nice toy to have.

I saw that same kit, but I don't think I'd trust one that's already been used for no telling how many miles. Something as important as cruise control, I'd rather get brand new. Thanks for the help tho.

 

I've installed aftermarket cruise controls before, it's not hard. Not sure why the shops are spooked of it. Yes, the cruise control motor is vacuum operated, but so what? Installing a Toyota one would be harder, but certainly not impossible. Just ensure the Toyota one has *all* its parts. Otherwise, the aftermarket ones sold by JC Whitney and like work just fine.
