Hello all, need some help as I didn't find anything specific on search for this. Just recently acquired a cold air intake for my Gen 3 first flight (96-98). Can't really determine the actual manufacturer even though its new in the box, came with all the stuff I think I need, but no instructions on how to install, still trying to get them, but maybe someone on here has already done this so it could make my install a bit easier. Tried contacting the seller but they are not too keen on replies. Here is what I purchased and looks just like this picture but there is no instructions. It may state 4 cylinder in the picture but it is for a V6 3.4. The box it came in looks exactly the same but is for a 6 cylinder. http://imagehost.vendio.com/bin/imag...6V6_CR_M11.jpg

Yes I did edit it but I did say that it was for my vehicle (which is a V6) in the original post. You didn't even address my concerns pdyebrasil, dude you just jumped right on the picture to tell me the picture was for a 4 cylinder. If the piping and equipment is exactly the same as pictured, what difference does it make if it is designed for a V6 as well? The purchase was from a guy who used this picture and I don't have anything else to post, but it is EXACTLY the same as what I purchased, he just used the picture from a model that was for a 4 cylinder. When it arrived, it was in the exact same box with the same picture as you see, but it states on my box "1996-1998 Toyota 4Runner 3.4 litre V6" If I had a picture to post of the one that came in my box I would have posted it. The pictured pipe for the 4 cylinder is exactly the same. I need help with an install of the unit I have, I asked for help not a technical disertation on the picture, part number or correct spelling of my post. I thought I included all that was needed. Seriously, can anyone just answer my question? Thats all I am asking for.

Wow. All I was noticing was that the picture said "4 cylinder". I've never looked at the 4 cyl. offered in 4Runners, so I just wanted to make sure that you had the right product in the first place. You noticed that, changed it in your post, and I got crap for it, so of course I'm gonna cover my back. But since everyone else who replied to your post had soo much helpful information, maybe I'll try and help you out a little...

I've done the deckplate and ISR mod. I'm not going to go into all the hoopla about which is better, because that's not what you asked. But, if you read up about the ISR mod, it'll show you that you have two vacuum hoses that are connected to the intake silencers (which you'll lose with the new intake) that you'll need to supply air to somehow. Look into the tech write-up section.

Hopefully someone who has actually done installed one of these will chime in.

Your OEM intake is much better. Theres a reason you didn't find any info. Search ISR, Deckplate, Trueflow, True flow, and Airaid.

I wouldn't say the deckplate is better but it is much cheaper (how much cheaper can a hole in the airbox be?) and nets the same gains.

 

They really are not that hard to install. I installed a cold air intake very similar to this one without instructions. Just compare it with your stock setup. There's a place for the MAF and should be 2 places for vacuum lines

 

Pretty expensive if you cut it wrong and screw your box. Its hard to screw it up, but, the box itself is $327 from the dealer.

 

I have one simular to that in mine, was a sinch to install! Just compare it to the stock setup and then see where this one goes. I also didn't have any instructions.

If you look at the pics in my sig i think there are some pictures of it that might help.

And although i can't say how much power gain there was i can say that the sound is MUCH better with this. I has this nice tone at WOT that just sounds SO nice. But yet is not loud at all when just driving around.

 

If one screws that up maybe you shouldn't be handling tools in the first place.
$15 and 30 minutes for 7-8whp.
