I've read through the previous posts and I've decided to spend more money. yea.....anyway, I was going to purchase some Downey coils(regular, not HD because I don't really haul anything) and I was wondering if this would take care of the sag in my rear end. Also, do I need to get special(longer) shocks for the rear? I've looked up the Bilstein stock shocks, but do I need to get longer shocks because of the 1.5-2 inch extra altitude? I was going to put Bilsteins all around. I don't get off road a lot and would like a firm ride, but not too rough.
Any input would be helpful.

What year 4Runner are you running?? IMO I would get the HD...the 4Runner has a very heavy rear...pair it up with the Bilsteins and you are good to go!!! Let me know if you have any other questions!!!

I'm assuming that you're talking about for a second gen right? If so, definitely go with the HD Coils like Mike suggested. Even if you don't haul anything, the 4Runner still has a really heavy rear end.

I'm running the Downey HD Rear Coils and Bilsteins on my 4Runner (1991) and I absolutely love it, it's the perfect combination

I've got the Bils and PP springs. My Bils are stock length. The ride is nothing short of incredible.

It's a '94 4X4. OK, I guess that answers my question on weather to get the HD or the regular coils, but what about the shocks? Is factory length on the back ok, or do they need to be a longer shock because of the added lift that the coil gives?

Factory length will be just fine.

 

I forgot to answer that part of the question sorry, but most (if not all) of us who are running the Downey or PP Rear Coils have stock length shocks. I personally dont think that there's a need to get longer shocks with them.
