Question Code 62 Question

Hi all, I'm new to this site. I own a '91 4-Runner SR5. I was able to diagnos my tranny problem through
this forum. Information I got said it was on the valve body, the stealership says it's in the Transmission. Can someone tell me where it is located?
I would greatly appreciate any help.

Just pull off the tranny pan and you will be looking right at the valve body.

This might also help you:

I believe that 62 is a #1 shift solenoid. these go out quite commonly I'm told by my friendly neighborhood dealer. You can check by shifting the trans manually through the gears and bypassing the solenoids.

Thanks MTL, it'll save me some guess work. Appreciate the quick response. Already
ordered the solenoid, beat the stealership down to around $120. from $161.
Made me feel better!

This should help too.

"This is caused by the #1 shift solenoid malfunctioning. I just replaced mine. If you pull the code it will most likely be a code 62. This is a very easy fix. Drain the trans pan, undo the filter(careful of the fluid in the filter and the shower that ensues when undoing the last bolt) change out the #1 solenoid, put everything back and fill er up with fluid. The solenoid is the most expensive part of the whole job. You can bypass the solenoid by manual shifting from 1 on up, but I wouldn't do it longer than it takes to get to toyota to get the part."

Thanks! I found a site through a search, www.autoshop101.com, that has some great info and you can print out the info. Between this forum and the info from that sight I was able to figure it was the #1 solenoid. It's a tech supprt/online tech school
where you can purchase repair mans.
Again thanks!

Here's a pic of the location of the solenoids. It seems that if there is any kind of possible trans problem, I've had it.
