So the problem I am having is that when I push the clutch pedal in everything works fine but when I let it out the clutch pedal wont go back to the normal position. I have to tap the back of the padal to return it. Is this the return spring or do I need to bleed the slave? How do I bleed the Slave it thats the problem?

EDIT: The pedal comes back enough to allow the clutch to engage but not fully back.

 

Don't know for sure but for what its worth on another car of mine the slave cyllinder leaked so bad that I did not have enough fluid in the clutch to even get it to work, however even with no fluid the pedal came back fine, there just wasn't anybody home when you pushed down on it.

 

Did you replace the master or the slave cyl.?

 

have you checked your pedal assy to make sure its not cracked/broken? This is a very common problem with 5sp trucks.

 

Didn't replace any sinse I bought it and Ill take a look at the pedal assy tomorrow. How would I bleed the system though?

 

If your pedal is not broken, this is your master cylinder crapiing out, but ust to be sure bleed your clutch. It's very simple.

 

to bleed the system: have a buddy help you. Pump the pedal 5 times, and hold it. have your buddy open the valve at the slave for 2-3 secs, then close it. Then you let off the pedal. Repeat until pedal firms up properly.

 

Thanks for the advice and info will look into a new master cylinder.

Mine is doing the exact same thing. Kinda freaked me out for a second because it makes the clutch grab super low. My pedal moans and squeeks real bad. I am first going to try and service the pedal assymbley. I'd be curious to see what you find also.

 

I had the same problem on my 02.
the master was going bad along with the small bushings in the pedal.
