Clean engine

What do you guys use to clean up your engine and engine compartment? Is there a link where I can see what things need to be protected from water? Thanks!

I use dirt and mud to keep mine clean

use a Degreaser! Pretty much all are the same so it doesnt really matter. They sell Engine Bright at most auto stores and it has directions on the back. Follow them and you should be good. Motors are more water/elementproof than you would think.

I use Simple Green sprayed on the engine when it's warm, not hot. I let it soak for 10-15 minutes then rinse with warn/hot water. Next I start the motor and let it idle for a few minutes to dry everything off. Simple Green is biodegradeable and won't harm anything under the hood too.

You can always have it steam cleaned at a car wash, but that costs a few bucks. I'll usually have them do it when I'm too lazy to wash my runner, which is always.
