Clean AC Evaporator?
We took a 4 hour trip the other day and toward the end, the AC was getting less and less cool. The air never did get warm, but it was barely cool enough to keep us comfortable as the sun was going down. I switched the AC off and it continued to blow cool air for 10 0r 15 minutes. When we parked, I saw no leakage from the AC evaporator drip tube.
I think the drip tube is plugged and the evaporator froze up. I blew it out once we were in town and ran the AC on recirc only on the trip home. Everything functioned perfectly.
So I figured I'd take off the evaporator cover, clean the coils, make sure the tube was clear and try it this week. But I can't get the lower cover off the evap. I've removed all the screws in the interior...Is there something I'm missing?

Its going to cost$$$$$$$$$
I really don'tknow about the '95 but on first gen. you have to have to remove the low and high side connections on the evaporator in the engine comparment. Witch means you should have the system refrigerant reclamed and then remove it. Which is not that much $ they will get you when when you have it recharged. After all the mounting screws are out then and the high and low refregernt lines are removed the whole unit will slide out. Then the plastic case can be removed.

its the same deal with my 95 as with the 1st gen...........if you suspect a blockage of the drain tube take a short peice of wire and gentlytry to clean out the tube from under the truck.............as long as you dont jam it in there as hard as you can you wont damage the evap core.

I blew it out with compressed air and it seemed to work fine afterwards. I may start carrying some compressed air...
