WHAT?

If "trumpeting" something you are happy with = a kickback, I'd better call BFGoodrich, K&N, Borla, Don Pablos and Merrell footwear for my past due commissions. I've recommended them more times than I can remember.

Not that it needs defending, but members posting links to products, ordering info, and general information make a better use of my time and appreciate it and encourage it. I use this forum pretty much exclusively for opinions and have not been steered wrong yet. This online community knows a whole hell of alot more than I do. You are entitled to you opinion. Here is a poll for you to voice your opinion.

We all get a little worked up because we are passionate about what we believe in. You wouldn't be here if you weren't passionate about your Toyota.

Cebby-I too like BFG and K&N very much. The difference is if asked my opion that would be eactly what I would say. I would tell yoou they work well for me. Heck I might even post a link IF ASKED. I certinly wouldn't tout the product that I was asked about as well as everything else they sell, suggesting that they are the best and that's what one should buy. Nor would I interject my two cents on every other post pertaining to the item( tires, filters, wax) that came across the board. Whether someone asked my opioion or not.

Bob- I use Meguires. Have for years and will continue to do so.

Well, I guess we can agree to disagree. I'm on this forum to put my two cents in (for what its worth). I think this forum offers a non-biased place for people to air their opinions. Opinions are not right or wrong - we can argue whos right and whos wrong forever. We are all going to make our own decisions. You can choose to heed the advice or ignore it.

BTW, I've never used the Griot's garage, Zaino, or Meguires. Frankly, I get mine professionally detailed when it's looking rough enough. I don't trust myself with a buffer. Give me a wrench, drill or a saw, and that's an other story. If I ever make it to Corey's neck of the woods, I'd call him for lesson in detailing. I know I've never won any car shows...

BTW, you for got to mention Borla. They are great. You should get one.

Here's a link

TPG, you are welcome to disagree with me all you want, it's your right.
But as for the connection between me and Griot's, I think you have a vivid imagination.

I don't work there as I have stated many times before, and I don't get compensated by using their products, or from them using my picture in a few issues of their catalog.
My rig is also featured on 4x4 Connection website.
http://www.4by4connection.com/4runnertacoma.html

Are you going to try and say I am compensated from them also because my rig is photogenic and they wanted to use my rig to advertise the ARB bumper?

And referring to me as going too far by pushing their products here?
However, our friend goes a little too far in pushing product.
It's one thing to recommend, but it's another to jump up and down, post links, give ordering info, jump in on any question about wax here and push Griot's and pour the praise on too thick. If one didn't know any better, one would think that he makes the stuff in his basement, and maybe he does. Again I don't understand why I get flak for giving an opinion. Just because it may not agree with the masses her, it is another opinion based on experience with the product. I'm sorry, I didn't read the rule here that said if you don't agree with Corey you
can't post.
As far as me including links in my posts to products I am happy about, that is my prerogative.
The way I compose my posts with links to things is none of your concern.
Do I jump on other folk's for including links to gear they are excited to share with others?

And I did not say Griot's is the best over anything out there.
I say it's the best product for me that I have ran across.
I have a disclaimer on my detail site stating that is you don't agree with the stuff I recommend, then don't use it.
And if you are tired of reading my posts about Griot's stuff, then you don't have to read my posts period as far as I'm concerned.

But from reading your last few posts here, I get the idea you are
attacking the way I compose my posts.
Like I said, if you don't care for them, you don't have to read them.

I've found Griots stuff to be everything Corey has said it is if not much, much more.

The stuff is awesome!!

TPG - I can't believe you had trouble getting the wax off. I thought it came off very easily.

Did you use a detergent that would strip off the old wax? Wisk is great, Dawn works too.

I've tried everything avail over the counter and honestly, Griots is tops. I always would recieve their catalog and would drool a while, but I always thought it was WAY overpriced. Now that I've tried the products, I'll never go back.

If anything, the Machine Polish 1 required a little muscle to remove, but I thought the BOS wax was easy.

The stuff works, my truck is proof positive every time I
look at it, hold on a minute.....

....OK just came back from the driveway and yup, truck looks awesome...

Thanks again Corey,

Curt

Sparman - I did everything you could think of to try and get the stuff to work well. For me it just didn't. I washed with Dawn, clayed and still had trouble getting the polish off. As I said somwhere else in here, I found Griot's products to be very overrated and gave my opinion. I even called Griot's customer service the day I was doing it to try and get some answers, but when I talked to their rep even he couldn't figure it out. It was just a bad experience that's all.

Corey - Why are you getting so defensive dude? For a man that has nothing to hide you sure are getting your drawers in a bunch. I've also got nothing against the way you post. I just find it strange that you always direct people back to Griot's. When someone asks about a product you give your opion and then the link to buy it from Griot's. Look at your post above about the MF towels vs. cotton towels. The original question asked which were better. You gave your opinion, then quoted the almighty Mr. Griot and then posted links to thier catalog. All the guy asked was for an opinion about which was better. There are plenty of other places online where one can get MF towels for hell of a lot less then Griot's charges. You didn't post any other links did ya? Nope.

Way back when, when I posted about my bad experience with the stuff you stated that i must have done something wrong becuase it couldn't be the product. That's how all this ugliness got started. You defend it like it's your child. When I see that my common sense tells me something's up. You have your opinion and I have mine. Beside the first time I said anything about you being connected to Griot's I meant it as a joke. Get a sense of humor will ya.

Again you say you have nothing against the way I post, but you criticize that I did not include other links to places that carry MF towels.
I only shop Griot's for my supplies, hence I don't have other links to supply.

And like I said, if you don't like my posts, or the fact I link to Griot's, then don't read them.

I provide links for information.
If you are going to jump all over me or others here at YotaTech publicly for not including links to other places or for linking to Griot's, I can fix that.

Corey Relax! I didn't Jump on anyone about posting links. I mearly stated that I found it strange how you stand by Griot's. MY OPINION. You are the one who is getting so defensive. Now to top it all off you're threatening me. I would assume to have the moderators prevent me from posting. Aren't we feeling very high and mighty.

Here's an idea, kick back, pop open a cold one and chill the F out.

Ignore List

First time I've tried this and it works! Glad I don't have to read anymore toxic posts from this fella. Gotta know when to quit.

I guess as the membership grows, this will happen from time to time.

Yes it will, especaily since we have almost 900 now.
His open attacks are best done via email or PMs, and no need to air them.

I'm with ya

We're on the same page...

EDIT: 900 Members? Wow, I guess it's even a bigger accomplishment to make it into the top 10 posters (and have never done a *bump* post.)

Thanks for turning me on to the forum back in September, Corey.

Hi guys. I'm a visitor thinking of buying a 3rd gen, but I had to chime in on this post as waxing is near and dear to my heart. Corey mention Zaino, and I would like to toss my hat into their corner.

Almost all of the people involved in domestic high-performance cars (Mustangs, Cam/birds, Corvettes, et al) are happy to testify as to the benefits of Zaino's polish. I myself have been a devoted user for about 2 1/2 years now. I cannot vouch for Zaino's ability to restore an oxidized finish as all of my cars have been relatively new, but Zaino's wet shine and durability are amazing. Additionally, since there are NO silicates in the polish, it will not "bake" to a hard finish like many other products. I used to wax my black 1999 Mustang GT in the middle of the August sun here in Georgia, and after letting it sit for an hour it still wipes of like magic.

Check them out at www.zainobros.com and look at the testimonials page.

TPG - You really should back off a little - you're forgetting what makes forums such as this so great in the first place.

I come here to share ideas, help, advice, and encouragement. Most of the significant mods I've made on my truck have been based on other peoples recommendations and opinions. I carefully weighed all the information presented and made an informed decision based primarily on info I gathered here and 4x4wire, BEFORE I spent my money.

In this case, with Corey recommending Griots - I really appreciate his opinion, one that he has supported extremely well with in-depth, detailed wriite-ups and pictures. I was fully aware of his site and his feelings towards their products LONG before I spent my money at Griots. When I finally decided that I would try the "Corey Setup" the extra effort Corey put in (i.e. including links, etc) were very convient for me and saved me a lot of time. Thanks again Corey.

I think you're missing the point of this "community". Ideas and opinions are put out there for you to choose to consider or not. It's your perogative. Don't jump on Corey because he puts A LOT of time and effort into sharing with all of us what has worked very well for him. If soemone posts their opinion, and includes a link so that you can investigate it further - that's a good thing. I'm not quite sure why you think it isn't.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience with the BOS wax - but if you look around, it seems to be an isolated incident that has not been experienced by anyone else - myself included. But hey, the Porter-cable works well for you, and I'll bet you have Corey to thank for that recommendation.

Is that what this is all about?

Beside the first time I said anything about you being connected to Griot's I meant it as a joke
Oh come on. In more than one post, you personally attacked him. First you accused him of benefitting financially from Griots, but then after a few of us rebutted you, then you switch to the ol' "c'mon relax man, it was a joke" defense and then give away your motive (above) for your petty anti-Corey campaign.

If you felt slighted by his remarks, why didn't you take the mature route and just take issue with him over email or PM?

Alot of us folks here have left other boards because we wanted to form a community where members can post opinions and share ideas by keeping it civil---and leaving out the personal attacks.

If you can't abide by this and don't have the ability to separate your negative feelings from your opinions/posts, there are plenty of other boards whose culture fits your style of posts.

Bob

Man!! The last post about killed this thread....ROTFLMAO!!!!! :pat:

Well, I went to Lowes and got the PC Kit 7336SP for $109. And, I just ordered a 6" velcro backup plate, a yellow cutting pad, white polishing pads, finishing pads and a bottle of 3M Perfect it- Swirl Mark remover.

I ordered the pads from CMA:
http://www.properautocare.com/

So, I'll be all set to fix up my wife's white Pre-Runner and to also see how the PC works with Zainos polish.

Merry Christmas Y'all

Paul
