cheap fan controller

I'm pretty sure the dealer screwed up the fan controller on my Flex-a-lite the last time they touched it doing my timing belt. They shorted it out some how on the A/C idle up relay. If I connect it and the fan kits in, my A/C shorts out and I have to replace the 10am fuse behind the glove box. After that, the A/C turns on only when the fan is running.

FAL wants $56 for a new board.
DC controller is $109.

Is there a cheaper/reliable controller than the FAL?

BTW. I haven't had any problems with the FAL that wasn't user error. Other cooling problems I may have wanted to blame on the fan, where really weak areas in other parts of the cooling system....ie Radiator.

pull your entire controller and wiring out and reinstall after a good inspection. it may be something that you can fix easily.

i wouldn't be confortable w/ the cheapest controller you can find since you will overheat if it fails.

Not really going for cheap in quality, but cheap in price.

How much is the Hayden 3652 and can I pick it up at an auto parts store.

I don't really want to sink $$ into a FAL replacement since it got mucked up so easily by the dealer.

I'm going to try and fix the PCB, but wanted a replacement on-hand before I started. It's been a while since I've had to solder on a board....like 20yrs

if you feel like paying for it, the DC controller bamachem used is good because of the variable speed rather than on/off.

Ok...just picked this up and was looking through the instructions. Do you actually put the probe all the way through the radiator? I didn't realize you could seperate the fins. I will probably hook up a manual switch instead of the A/C power up.
