Did ya ever check into a highrise glass topper? I had a Glasstite on my F-150. it was a smooth rounded transition instead of the squared off blocky one like the pic above. I compressed the fork on my DR 350 with a strap and it fit by rolling it in backwards and leaning it over to clear the door.
