A/C Question

I recharged my a/c on Saturday. When it is on there seems to be a sound every 30 seconds. Almost like something is turning on then turning off. It sounds like a burping noise. Could it be purging something? Does anyone have any ideas as to what it could be?

I think it's normal!

To avoid the high pressure build-up and overheat the system, the compressor cannot run at all the time. That's why you hear the click every while. I wouldn't worry about it!

Hope it helps,

Nam

That's probally the clutch engaging and disengaging. The belt spins all the time, but the clutch allows for intermittent operation of the compressor.

Kinda off-topic....but....if the A/C compressor is seized, can you turn it by hand? Last week, i pulled out the belt for the compressor and it was all tore up. I need to check on it more thoroughly this week. If I had to replace, would that be a PITA or what?

Yes the compressor should be able to turn over by hand.
The clutch should spin completely free and the shaft with some resistance.
