a/c buttons and knobs not working

a/c buttons and knobs not working
I have a 99' 4runner with 160k. the lights behind the defroster, rear window control, and other buttons are all out. but not only are the lights out the buttons no longer function. i checked threads about the lights being out but none have ever said anything about the buttons not working. any suggestions? thanks
