i got a 97 taco with 2.7L and the ac wont shut off even when u put the button off any ideas

Do you have it on defrost? (all the way to the right) If so, its supposed to turn on the a/c automatically weather you press the button or not. Try moving it to something else and I bet the light will shut off. My 97 4R and 96 Rav-4 do this.

yea it is on defrost ill try that in a few minutes when i leave cuz when i was looking at it at the lot it didnt turn on lol ill try taht

That's wierd, I know when you put it on defrost whether or not you have the ac on it comes on automatically. Once you move it to anything else though it should turn off and the heat function as normal. Maybe it takes a few minutes in your truck to warm up?

Do you have the switch on recirculate or outside air? If not on outside air, then most likely you have a bad control head.

i believe its on recirculate and ive let it run for a few min and its still cold.......i was wondering if the cable for the cold and warm setting broke maybe
