Buzzing in my engine...

After I turn my truck off, I hear this buzzing sound coming from under the hood, I've narrowed down the location as being behind the battery somewhere... anyone know what it is? and if its bad?

It's a VSV for your emissions equipment. Nothing's "broken", it's just annoying. No worries.

Charcoal canister letting you know that it's still there. Not much you can do about it

What year truck do you have?

I will bet that you have a 96 or early 97.

Am I correct?

There's a $20 "silencer" from Toyota that will fix this problem. I personally don't care enought to spend $20 on it.

The fix for this is very simple. It involves installing a small chamber on the forward most nipple of the EVAP canister.

Reference TSB EG002-97

Order part number 77701-35010 from the dealer. It is just a few bucks.

Install it like this:

Now your buzz will be gone for good.

I keep a pet bumble bee underneath there. Its the workhorse of the v6. He gets mad when I turn the car off and tries to fly away. People don't believe me.

Funny - I have been telling people similar stories for years when they wonder why my truck has an attitude when its not even on.

does this buzzing have anything to do with draining your battery to the point where your car wont start?

No, the noise comes from gas vapors escaping - not electrical. But you should have your battery tested to make sure it can still hold a charge and if it's good, then something is drawing on it.
