Brake Worries
Just recentley my brake light poped on for a few seconds after startup. Poped the hood to see that the resivour was down to the min line. Then noticed a leak between the mastercylinder and the booster. My main question is would it be safe to make a 500 mile drive home from school? Is this a common problem where a constant leak would stay constant? Or could my brakes completely fail? Thanks ahead of time.

If fluid is coming out between the master and the booster that means your master cylinder seals are leaking, or at least the rear one is. It could stay like that for a while, or it could go suddenly, especially if you brake hard in an emergency. Chances are you'll only loose one circuit, which means either front or rear brakes won't work. To be safe the master should be rebuilt or replaced ASAP.
Btw where and when is this 500 mile drive going to be, so I know where not to drive

brakes are not something you want to let slide, no pun intended. try and get it looked at as soon as you can, a mech should be able to give you some idea of what it will or wont be able to do. good luck.

fix it ASAP. brakes are the most important safety device on the vehicle, no reason to skimp on them. a new/reman master cylinder shouldn't be too expensive, and labor (if you're not doing it yourself) shouldn't be very much. they're not hard or time consuming to replace.

Don't mean to hijack this thread, but this seemed the best place to put my question. Does anyone know if there is any place you can pick up a master cylinder rebuild kit? I've tried Parts America and Autozone. Thanks
