Brake questions- 1st generation
My 85 runner has an annoying habit where the rear brakes lock up when backing out of the driveway. The parking brake wants to engage. Lubrication with p-oil and working the levers going into the wheel assembly to loosen them up help for a while, but they lock back up quickly unless I stay on them. My friend tells me this is a common problem with older runners and trucks. Is their a more permanent solution? Thanks for the help. Donnie

My '85 didn't have this problem. Not positive, but it may have something to do with the proportioning valve. Does it have a lift? If it does, you will need to put an extension on the part that connects to the axle. You may be getting too much fluid to the rear brakes.
