I bet if I put 18" drilled and slotted rotors all around with some racing pads on I could get my truck to stand on its nose too..........and along the same lines imagine my poor 4runner brakes on an 18 wheeler......you'd be lucky to stop it in the length of an aircraft carrier......and that is with a tail hook....

Ok. So I stand corrected. However, I feel like the response to the pedal is partly due to the design of the system and the weight (ie: inertia) of the heavy truck when compared to the smaller car.

Pathfinders have VERY touchy brakes - so much so that I absolutley hated the two 99-00 SE's that I drove. Personally, the only problem that I have with the brakes is the warped rotors...

the pedal method

I just bled mine too. I think the "danger" of the pedal method is a little overstated in that it's quite possible to bleed the system by depressing the pedal no more than 1/2" with your hand. I had my wife hold the tube and bottle, tap the rotors with a hammer, while I pumped the pedal and watched the reservoir.

That's true. The danger of the pedal method is pushing in too far and damaging the seals in the master cyl, like Gadget said.

Man, I gotta get myself one of these power bleeders!
