Brake pedal movement

Hi
Lately on my 99 4runner it feels like the brake pedal continues to the floor if I put more pressure or pump the the pedal after stopping. I don't think it should do this and my guess is I have leak somewhere or a faulty master cylinder. I'm I correct or could there be other things I have overlooked?
Thanks

if there is no leaking brake fluid around yer wheels then
it is a blown master cylinder seal.

in other words, you have brakes if you pump them a little bit,
but constant pressure eventually sends pedal to floor. that is
the master cylinder seal.

Thanks. I will have to check but it sounds just like the master cylinder seal you described. How hard is that to replace?

I will have them check it next week when I get an oil change as I don't have a way to bleed the brakes myself (or trust myself to do it right on a safty issue like this).

while you are at it go ahead and flush the old brake fluid out. it gets spent after (on average) 2 years.. i would bet less if you use the piss out of them and or if you see a lot of water..

I actually got the brake fluid flushed last summer (I wonder if they screwed up the bleeding then). But good idea.

well if the pedal doesn't creep to the floor, it just goes
to the floor with more foot pressure, that can be air bubbles

ok, so a good bleeding could solve it potentially.
Thanks
