brake groan

02 4runner, recent tundra bake upgrade.

wOw! what difference!

haveny found anyone else experience this...

i thought swap would eliminate the 'groan' (creek, squeek, %^& noise) but it has not changed.

it seems to be ABS related. never thrown a code.
(thought it may have something do with causing warped rotors too???)

ONLY happens below 25mph. fast or slow stop. also can make it happen when taking off, on a roll.
appears to more of an issue on the RF...

imagine the valve stem poistion, every time it passes the same place (360* rotation) it 'groans', you can feel the ABS system function.
it doesnt happen until below 25mph.
high speed braking is excellent!

ABS performs as expected too.
have not checked the F wheel sensors, but they appear in good cond.

Hmmm, that's odd. I recently did the Tundra upgrade as well; I'll have to listen and see if I hear a similar sound.

Only brake groan I've dealt with are from the caliper pistons engaging and disengaging from a stop. I tell my customers there isn't really a fix that I'm aware of and it isn't safety related. I'm not sure if new calipers will fix the problem or not. I've even wondered if I honed the piston bores if it would maybe help, but nobody has really wanted to allow me to experiment w/ their vehicles and it would be too costly compared to a new caliper. Maybe worth a try if you want a pass at it. Just update us.

My ABS sucked so I pulled the fuse. All better.

i thought it was the stock calipers too.
sometimes it would go away if i hosed the dust out of the wheel area... only temporary!

the new tundra calipers were exactly the same issue, so the equipment likely wasnt the original problem either.

ill yank the fuse and see what happens.

its hard to diagnose as it doesnt happen >25mph
on the rack, it doesnt make ANY noise
