I guess you could run straight pipes, I like the side personally. Maybe just a straight tip, these have a baffle, which add to the sound. I am worried about the distance from the spare to the heat source of the pipe. Will the extended heat from the pipe weaken the rubber? Also, I want to upsize the tires to 265/7017. Is there enough clearance between the exhaust pipe and the hitch that is on the other side? How did you add the pics?

Get yourself an account with Monty which I list on the above URL.
Exhaust looks good.
I bet it sounds pretty decent too.

I have heard that to be true. The only time i have any problem with smell in mine is when its all the way down with the sunroof open and i'm at wot or going up a big steep hill where i'm on the gas for an extended amount of time. But don't do rear exit unless you don't like keeping your rear window down. Thats probably one reason why they only offer the rear exit on the tundras and not on the Runner? I think I remember reading that somewhere.

one reason for side exit exhaust ,particularly in 4x4 applications , is so that you dont crush the tail pipe when going up steep inclines . with the tail pipe coming outthe side instead of the back theres very litle chance of it becoming hung up on any thing.
