Boost + ECT

From where we live, when we go to 'town", we have to get on I95 and go over 3 overpasses. I had noticed that going up the OP the boost/vacuum gauge would go from vacuum to around 2 lbs boost until about 2/3 way up and then drop back into vacuum and continue on up and over. The trans does not downshift.

A few days ago I had ECT on, which I don't usually do. Everything was as above , except the gauge went up only into "0", no boost at all. Hmmm

Today I tried it again and the gauge either stayed on the vacuum side or into the "0" region. Again no boost to go up the incline.

I am aware that the ECT changes the shift points in the trans, but this would seem to indicate that a different fuel map is used also, since the trans does not shift in either situation.

Has anyone else noticed this?
