i will probably get flamed for this but i need to know anyways. im thinking about doing a 1-2 inch body lift since my runna is a total street queen. i am also going to get some 18's or 20's but still need some side wall and would like an aggresive tread pattern. so my question is what would be the max size i could run with a 1 inch lift or a 2?

if your going to run 18 or 20 foot rims i would reccomend doing a SAS and swaping out for some massive custom axles.

haha just kidding..but 18 or 20in rims isnt going to give you much room for sidewall and your not going to find too many offroadish tires in those rim sizes...maybe a 17 would be best for you

but you wont need a lift to run 18 or 20s unless you want to run something with a big sidewall

 

you could get smoe nittos or bfg all terrains

not sure what your biggest size would be though. check out some lifted runners your rear with 1-2" lifts and what tire size's they're running.

 

I'd suggest asking this over at t4r.org for questions about 20s and such.

 

I would go with an 18" wheel. Any tire guy can plus size the tires. Still have some sidewall, but stay away from 20s. They do nothing, but look good/bad. 18s are more functional

 

I would say 32s is all you're gonna get with only 2" lift.
33s maybe but they will rub. (Of course you are talking street use only with 20s anyway.) 285/60R18 should be perfect, that's equivalent to 32x11.50.

 

With a 2" body lift, you could run 32s. They'll rub a bit in the back if you wheel it, but they should be fine for daily driving.

18s with a 32" AT will still look decent. 20s might be a bit much, IMO.

 

don't do 20's.

run nitto 285/60-18's and they will be 31.5" tall - about 1" taller than the stock 265/70-16's and will still have some sidewall and not look totally ghey.

 

You runner will look retarded and I will mock you behind your back but, Super Swamper Iroks come in a 20" rims size! Although you will need more lift to run them because I think they only have larger sizes. Why lift your truck and put on 20's?
Just looked, the smallest you can get is: 33x13.50R 20LT, gonna need more lift than 2 inches...

You could roll with this wicked cool guy, these are 20's with 36" Iroks.

 

Not to mention, the body lift on a street queen or a show truck would look awful. If anything, get a suspension lift of some sort and you won't have a problem, Just throw whatever size tires and wheels you want under there. Don't forget to regear as well, unless you want to be really slow.

 

Did I miss the part where the guy asked for all your opinions on how it would look? He asked for a max tire size. Those of you who simply said it would look gay offered EXACTLY ZERO help to this guy, and made no attempt to answer his question. It's his rig, let him do what he wants with it.

a body lift wil be fine.

you won't tell the difference on a 3rd gen from a suspension lift by just looking at it and you'll maintain your current ride quality.

get one from http://4crawler.com and you're good to go.

listen to somebody who actually HAS a 4crawler body lift...

He also asked about tires with an aggresive tread, this is answering that.

It was in reference to an aggresive tire, with a mention about the smallest size they come with a suggestion of more lift to fit them, plus an example of what they look like.


God forbid someone mention another related bit of tech no specifically asked for.


Almost every thread in this forum has opinion mixed in with advice, it isn't something to get cranky about.

thanks for the guys that helped and didnt comment on how it would look. im going to go check out some wheels and tires today and tomorrow. 18's with a black center and chrome lip wrapped in a big meaty tire sounds just the ticket

 

Good Idea 18" will look fine 17" might flow a little better but you will still be able to get that good tred and some decent side wall with the 18" Good choice hope it comes out looking sweet.

 

I run 285/60R 18s on one of my trucks and I like the way they look. It also improved the on-road handling - less sidewall flex and squirm, and there is still enough sidewall to protect the rims.
