I didn't notice anything like that with mine. Are you sure you got the mounts tight? It helps if you clean all the sand/dirt away from the surfaces first.

a body lift will help very slightly with approach angle clearance, but a susp. lift helps way more to even get the frame out of the way. the best you can do for clearance is bumpers and side steps
