Blower Resistor

I triesd the searcvh and came up with nothing and looking for a bit of help.

I just replaced my blower resistor and when I turned it on nothing happend until I got to high speed. I went back down to low and all speeds worked. Now I cannot get the lower speeds unless I go to high first. Does this sound like a bad resistor or a bad switch?

actually, let me ask this: did you buy a NEW one, or slap in a used in? And if used, did you make sure to check the coils for broken wires? Thats what happens to those resistors, the thin little coiled wires break.

It's an '01 4runner and the resistor was brand new from the dealer.
