Blinker issues

I am having the strangest problems lately with my 87' ext cab 4x4 22r truck. The blinkers all work fine but the guage arrows dont light up when the blinkers are on and the backlighting for the guages for when it's dark does not work either. I have looked all around this thing and found nothing. Any suggestions?

Sounds like a wire is shorting out. I'd stop using your blinker until you find the short as it could be a fire hazard. Time to buy a multi-meter and learn to use it or take it to someone who can trace it down for you. I think you want a multi-meter that will check continuity, but I'm still learning about mine. The insulation can wear off wires after 15 years of bumping around.

Have you checked your fuses. If I'm not wrong, the dash indicater lamps and the illumination are on the same fuse.

....

Yeah, the fuses are all good. I have a DMM and I hope I know how to use it. I went through the ASE cert classes I would think that a shorting wire would pop a fuse right? Well, I checked all the wires anyways and nothing is grounding out anywhere near the dash area. I will check out the trailer lighting setup tomorrow as I am thinking that is a possibility. Any other suggestions?PS I have always owned the 22re and I must say that I am majorly impressed with the smoothness of the carb version. Much better power in my opinion even though numerically higher hp resides with the 22re. Todd
