I need some help in getting the best tire for around $100. I am currently thinking of the Continental CrossContact LX because it has a pretty high review for the price. I would like something with a little more aggressive thread, but to be honest I really do mostly on road driving so this looks like a healthy mix.

 

these arent 100$ but cheaper than most other brand name tires.

yokohama geolander at/s's great great great tire for the $$.. i think they run around 120-140$ per tire..

 

$100?? Go get some retreads....you get what you pay for with tires man. I only paid $150 for my BFG A/T's and 45K later they still have 40% tread and they work well offroad. I just paid $260 a tire for my 37's!!!

I've been looking into tires lately too. Nitto Terra Grapplers are really high on my list. They look great and seem to do well on and off road according to others on YT. I've found them as cheap as $99 each for load rating C at selecttire.com. They seem to be out of stock right now, however.

For that price, you'll find a lot of H/T tread styles. Like you, I want something more aggressive, although not necessarily an M/T. The Nitto seems to be a great compromise!

yokohoma geolanders are aright around $100 also

I love my Nitto Terra Grapplers. Great aggresive look--#1 A/T last year in permormance review by Consumer Reports. I'd suggest looking for them on www.DiscountTireDirect.com. Then, click on the link to their Ebay store. I found the best prices on these sites. Then...I went into the store and had them match the prices (285's, 10-ply, for $119 each).

ive had good luck with these. not a mud tire, but good on road and decent off road. several people i work with use these tires also on there farms, hunting leases and daily drivers. I'm on my second set. i replaced them at about 50k due to wear on the rears. i kept the fronts as spares as they still had tread left.

 

the wear is from rear tire draggin around corners, not from smokey burnouts that this rig is not capable of. these tires also did pretty good during the winter for me.

 

I understand your frugality but make certain you do not compromise too much in tire quality. In driving in rain and snow, nothing beats knowing you have a good pair of shoes on your rig!!

Price shop wisely but do not compromise your safety for $10 bucks per tire...

Call around to the local discount tire stores and ask them to check their used tires. Many times they will have tires that someone drove for a weekend and returned. They usually sell those for about 25% off.

I got my Nittos from discount tire for $40 each and they had about 75% tread left.

 

Yeah, I totally hear you. That's why I was looking at the Continentials. Good price and really good reviews/safety. Everything has got to be better that the bald-ish tires I have now (not to mention they have been reparied about 2x each)

 

Most tires I look at are speed rated S (112mph), but the Continentials are H-rated (130mph). Not that matters too much cause my truck tops out at 95.

 

Nitto's Terra Grappler or Toyo Open Country A/T's.......

i would go with the yokohama geolander at-s... like mentioned above for a lil over 100$

 

Don't think that a tire dealer's initial quote is set in stone. I've been able to negotiate them down a little and/or have disposal and mounting/balancing charges waived. That being said, I'm a big fan of my (second set) BFG All Terrains, although you'd have to up the budget about 25%.
