i know there has been MORE than enough talk about snow chains and cables and whatever...i know...ive spent hours reading through all the threads that have anything to do with them...my question is simply this, should i go with a more aggressive chain, or a simple cable...here in charlotte it snows a couple times a year, but ive got money laying around that i think maybe 100 bucks or so it would be worth it, since i dont have 4wd, to be able to drive around in the snow...also, which ever i do go with, how much will it help...and how well should i expect my bfg all terrains to do (first winter with the 4runner)

I say your ATs will do fine, that mountain with a snowflake on it is a DOT severe winter weather rating.

If you got money to burn, I can help you with that, if you really want chains, avoid the cables. They are kind of weak. Also, avoid a severe duty "log truck" chain, you will hate the ride so much, you wont use them. A mild CHAIN is best for your needs I feel.

Snowchains in NC, thats a new one. Right now in Ohio a severe winter storm is coming through. The rain is just starting to freeze on the trees and soon there will be tons of ice and snow all over the roads.

The "square link" chain would be a good choice, try Cabelas, they have great mild chains.

a couple of bags of sand over the drive wheels will help
