bad news

today 4wheelparts was supposed to finish install on my superlift. They haven't started. They called and now they have to replace my whole front end of my old 4runner and is going to cost 1500 to replace and more time. I'm pissed. has this happened to anyone else?

What do they mean when they say they need to replace the whole front end?

This sounds outrageous at a first glance.

I would personally suggest you install the lift yourself and some friends.

That's what I vote for. I did it with a friend. Took a while, but hell of a lot cheaper.

I know my other friend had nothing but bad luck at 4wheel parts installation. They made so many dumb mistakes. It was as if they had never installed a lift before. I would pick up the truck and save a LOT of money. Really, you are paying for their expertise and often they seem to have none.

We can help you figure out what needs replacing in the front end and what is Ok for now.

they said i need:
Pitman arm,
radius arms,
steering components
etc. don't remember it all they talked to my dad.

we would try and install it but i do not have the time. I'm leaving for phillie on the 9th and won't be back for a good bit and them i'm leaving for college. the original plan was to do the install my self but then i got a half install price deal so i figured id just do that to save time. as for the new front end components, i don't doubt that mine need replacement b/c the runner is 17 years old and they are all stock parts. they are cutting me a deal since my family has been good to them so i should have te rig back this week sometime.
thanks for all the input.
does anyone have a idea about how much replacing everything like that would cost. with install and parts it's 1300 for me but then they are cutting me a deal. does that sound right or toooo high?
