Axle code 28, manual transmission?

Hi, my axle code is 28 on my door panel, but that should mean I have an automatic with 4.30 gears. However, I have a manual with 4.56 gears (not positive but running 3,000rpms at 70mph, I believe that means 4.56's).

Does this mean my car was an auto at one time and the prev. owner changed it? Or do some 28's have manuals too?

Yea, I read that already. Which is why I asked the question. On that page it says the axle code "28" means an automatic with 4.30 gears. I have a manual with 4.56 gears, but my code still says 28. Thats why I asked.
