Auto transmission delay

Auto transmission delay
Here is the question. I have done a rebuild on my 4runner that was involved in a front end, drivers side, sub body accident. The drivers side front IFS and differential were pushed back far enough that the drive shaft dented the auto tran oil pan. We were able to move the runner while running the engine 1 day post accident, though I believe we were too hasty and ran the tranny low on oil because of the hole that was created by the dent. Now that the rig is fixed, when I hit the brakes and do a rapid deceleration the runner will go into neutral (the shifter was not touched, nor does it move, nor does it make any shifting noises) and when I hit the gas it takes a second or two to kick into gear, but at a too high an RPM? I am wondering if someone could explain to me in logical terms what is going on. OH YA it only happens when the runner isn't fully warmed up. Thanks, Rob
