Knock it all down with a wire wheel something to give a mechanical bite. Clean real good. Wipe down with wax and grease remover. If you want too help it further stick get some Adhesion Promoter and spary before truck coating...not needed though. I really like the way the Duplicolor truck bed liner sprays out of the aersoel can. Comes out way nicer than the brush on paint liner. IMO

don't use the duplicolor stuff as it is really cheap. i have that in my bed and it sucks! i did the interior with herculiner and it looks great. i had to re-route a wire harness to go under the truck on passenger side. i also made some nice drain plugs in the factory holes in the floor. using a bolt, rubber washer and wing-nut. now if i fill it with mud i can just rinse it out. quick tip: wear gloves with the herculiner, that stuff doesn't come off easy!

Carpet came out of my cab 6 yrs ago. Never herculined or duplicolored nothin, still dont need to. Floor mats take up the foot wells. I did prep and paint a few spots where metal was exposed from foot wear (like next to the clutch pedal) but nothing will stick long.

I've flooded the cab a few times with swamp goo, dropped a thousand sodas and tracked in half the foothills worth of mud.

No carpet =) AWESOME

pull the seats, get out the hose baby!

I did mine last summer after swamping it in a nasty mud hole. I just pulled everything out and made sure i prepped the metal really well. I think I used the Herculiner product. The only place I am finding it to be peeling off is on the tailgate. I stripped the carpet off and sheeted the wood with some sheet metal. Just normal loading and unloading junk has taken its toll.

My carpet has been out for a very ling time. I have intentions of putting Herculiner in soon, but I was planning on leaving that factory tar board that everyone else seems to tear out. Anyone know why people pull that stuff prior to putting the liner in?

had mine done with linex, i tried the duplicolor (didn't know about herculiner) and it just chipped to crap even with some prep. when i had linex do the back i had my whole floor board sandblasted first, seems like its going to last forever (its gaurenteed). With the sand blasting, make sure to tape off the whole front console (dash, gagues, cd player ec) or sand will ruin it

Tore mine out:

Then cut out some floor:

Then used 16 bucks worth of Home Depot indoor/outdoor carpeting to fill it all back in:

Works pretty well, and for the price I can't complain. Durability leaves a bit to be desired, but some floor mats would help a bunch with that.

I need to Herculine my cab soon too. I had the vinyl floor liner in my truck, but water leaks onto it when it rains so it started to stink. I pulled it out and it is much better now, but my cab is red now and my truck is tan due to me painting the truck. I have a gallon of Herculiner and I need to get it done. Thanks for the inspiration guys. All of your guys floors look awesome.

Guys - do any of you have tips for removing the factory sound deadening gunk, and prepping for Herculiner (if you don't have access to a sandblaster)? Does Acetone work well enough?

Not a problem...but I just left mine in. Too much work getting it all out and I didn't see the need to.

I'm not sure where to get the dry ice either...

Looks sharp, Lumpy.

You removed all the drain plugs before doing the coats, of course, right?

What did you do about the wiring - re-route it anywhere, or just disconnect and then reconnect when dry? And for your threaded holes, like seat bolts, how did you address that when applying the liner?

Thank man!!! I had to do something it smelled soooooo bad when I got it. Like a moldy dead dog was laying in the thing.

Didn't pull the plugs, just moved the wiring as needed (it was a hot day so it all dried quick) and about he holes. I don't recall doing anything with the threaded holes. I was just careful not to get that goop in the threads.

Are you worried about not being able to pull the drain plugs if you get standing water in the cab (they'd be fused to the floor with teh liner, right?)?

I think when I do mine, I'll take out the drain plugs, and use painters tape in small rolls (sticky part facing out) to plug all the threaded holes, just in case.

regardless, yours looks really nice - how did you prep the surface?

Well I took out the carpet...used a broom to get most of the dirt out and slopped the goo in.

As far as getting water in it I'm more concerned with getting water in the engine...which is why it's sitting now. I'm sure the plugs are sealed in now, I'm not too concerned with it. I had water up the doors a bit and it took a while for it to come in, I need to get better door seals. When I swamped it all the water came out and didn't sit and pool.

I took out my sound deadening, it's a slow process, using a rubber mallet and small flat prybar( something you might use to remove trimwork in carpentry). if you live in a cold climate it comes off easier and cleaner when cold. it almost chips off, when it's hot it gets tar-like. I did find rust spots under some of this stuff where I thought it was solid, so I'd remove it because water can get under it.
