Anybody ever take off a front fender?

Does the bumper have to come off also? Maybe a diagram from a repair manual?

Fenders come off pretty Easy. And no you don't have to pull the bumper.

Just remove all the bolts, A bunch under the hood, a couple in the door jam. A couple under the front of the door. You'll have to remove the plastic mud gaurds in the wheel well, and remove the front mark light to get the last 2 out.

SHould only take 20 min to do.

The hard part is putting it back on and lining everything up right so all the gaps are the same.

4Hummer, is that a general statement about all fenders or you have done it on a 3rd gen?

on the 3rd gens, it's easier to remove the bumper to take off the fender and probably the fastest way. I never tried to remove the fender without taking off the bumper, because it's a pain to get to the 2 front lower bolts.

There you are. I was going to ask here who is that guy with the white fender. He ought to know!

I think I see a small bolt which is partially blocked by the plastic trim on the top of the bumper. Could probably get to it removing just the trim. Think I need to take it off completely?

It's the easier way, also where the fender meets up by the top bolt near the hood latch, it is glued down and you'll need to use a knife to cut the joint.

I have removed the fenders on a 3rd Gen.
The two bolts by the bumper are a pain. A couple extensions a couple elbows some knuckle blood and they came off. IT may be easier to remove the bumper we didnt try that.
