Any harm to the drivetrain by going with bigger tires?

I might have over-exaggerated the title, but what I meant was:

Current tire size on my 4Runner, 265x70xR16 Yokohama Geolander H/T-S G051.
Possible considering, 255x70xR16 Yokohama Geolander H/T-S G051.

Any advantages or disadvantages between such a comparison?

Thanks!

By bigger do you mean wider? The OD of your current tire is 30.6" and the tire you are considering has an OD of 30" and is marginally wider. The diameter difference is only 2% which means your speedometer will read 2% faster than would actually be driving and your drive train will not be damaged.

As a side note I've been running 33" tires for the last 2 years with stock gearing and no problems.

I don't think you could run big enough tires on an unmodified 4runner to hurt the drive train considerably enough to worry about it..

If you're going from a 265/70r16 to a 255/70r16, then you're going to a smaller tire. Smaller tire means the truck will accelerate quicker, but will be reving higher on the highway. If you meant a 255/85r16, then that's a true 33" tire and you'll lose a bit of acceleration, but you'll rev less on the highway.
