They have things like that all over. It is a really good deal, but before the BBQ, people go out and wheel. Sometimes it goes on for several days.
If there were one out east, it might be called something like an "East Coast Jamboree." If one were to happen out west it could be called "West Coast 4-Runner Jamboree." Of course the names could change based on location and vehicle makes allowed.
I drove 1400 miles each way to meet the crew and it was worth every minute. It is really cool to meet the people from these forums to see what they are like in the real world. Plus Colorado is not a bad place to hang out either.
As for taking a 2nd gen on the highway at speed, let me tell you about going 35 through the passes between Denver and Telluride. I was getting passed by semis. Worth every minute.
