anti-rattle springs - how many per caliper?

I've been getting a metallic "clank!" when going over short bumps (like expansion heaves or cracks). After using the scientific method this weekend, I tracked down the problem to my brakes. I also discovered that I'd put on the anti rattle springs slightly wrong. Correcting them improved, but didn't solve the problem.

I recently installed 199mm Tundra brakes on my '02 4Runner. My old brakes only had a single anti-rattle spring at the top of the brake pads. I installed the Tundra brakes with a single anti-rattle spring at the top of the brake pads.

Would there be anything wrong with adding a second anti-rattle spring to the bottom of the pads? Is there supposed to be a second spring?

Thanks much,
MadCityRich

Same problem, only worse I'm missing the spring from one side entirely. Truck sounds like it's comming apart over any rough terrain unless you put some pressure on the brake. How does one get the spring without buying a new caliper or pad set?

I think your best bet is at the dealership. I can't find any online retailers that just sell the spring.

I read your message. I would expect anot-rattle springs to be common across many models of vehicle. I don't have a parts catalog, but your dealer might be able to cross reference vehicles. Are there other larger truck models sold in Japan? They probably use the same anto-rattle spring as the Tundra. It would seem crazy for Toyota to specify anti-rattle springs that are vehicle specific.

Good luck,

The answer is no and a second clip is not necessary.

This is what it should look like assembled:

what you need is a front disc brake hardware kit a local parts store should have it. for an 01 Tundra the Carquest part # H15781. even if you dont have a carquest in your area any parts store should be able to cross the number.
