Another engine swap question-

Hey, all-
I'm looking at a couple pickups to turn into a dedicated trail rig. One is an '82, the other is an '83. I like the style on that generation.
Anyways, how hard is it to swap in a 22RE? I know I would need the engine, ECU etc., but are the mounts and exhaust the same?

Thanks!

I beleive the 22RE is a direct swap for your 20R. I've heard of some guys running a 20R head onto a 22R or 22RE.

Swap in a 22R, use a weber 32/36 carb and the 20R head and you'll be making better power than the 22RE if you add in a mild cam and headers. And you'll have much less electronics and all that junk!!

Yeah, but it's carbureted. I don't mind the electronics stuff as long as I can maintain idle at 14,000 feet.

Thanks for the response! I had no idea about the 20R head on the 22RE block

Completely off-topic

Completely off-topic, but anyone know if a Land Bruiser (a.k.a. Land Cruiser) V8 would fit under a 4Runner hood? Maybe I'll swap engines with my mother -- she has a '00 LC. Well I can at least dream...
