Alternator?

Jumped in my 4runner Monday and started her up and my A.T. oil light, brake light and battery light came on.
The lights on my dash were dim as were my headlights.
Got to work and i pulled the battery cables and cleaned them up and checked the fluid level on the battery.
Used a volt meter and my battery read 12.4 volts.
Started the motor and checked the voltage again on the battery and it read 11.2 volts.

Is my alternator shot?

Do you have an auto repair shop that you can run your rig by for just a second? At the shop I worked at this summer we had a machine that could test to see if your battery or alternator was bad by putting a load on the electrical system. Anyway, we usually checked for free for people. Might be worth a try, but it sounds like you may have symptoms of a bad alternator. Good luck-

Yeah sounds like a bad alt to me also. The voltage reading you should get with the engine running would be in the 13-15volt range and sometimes higher.

If you can get the 100amp of 135amp for your rig.

Hopefully it's just worn brushes. They're really easy to change out and cost less than $20 at the dealer.
