Question ADD to manual hub

I want to add manual hubs to my 94 4runner. All I have to look for is a set of IFS manual hubs and bolt them on right? (I know how to defeat the ADD system) Is there anything else I should get?

Thanks!

no need to defeat the add system, use the manual hubs with the add system intact and you have the best of both worlds. search for cebby's posts on the manual hubs, he explains it pretty good in there, robinhood150 has a pretty good description also.

A few write-ups in the Tech section as well.

I have my ADD connected still, I see no reason to defeat it with my Aisin manual hubs.

Same here, except I have the cheap Warn hubs.

wait, how can you ahve both? If you ahve ADD than your front axles are always spinning and if you have manual hubs than they are stopped, unless you unlock them.

You answered your own question
With ADD & manual hubs, when you have the manual hubs unlocked, everything is free wheeling with zero drag.

When you lock the hubs, it is just like ADD, "shift on the fly time."

Corey hit it on the head with that one.....the swap is so easy I did mine in the parking lot at work after hours ran out of sun after one side and did the other with a flash light still only took about 30 minutes per side. The hard part was getting those damn split washers out on the auto hubs....thankfully they are not reused on the manual hubs....

Thanks for the help! I pick up the hubs from an 88 runner last night. I would keep the ADD but my trans is not the right one for the ADD… It had to be changed to the older 4cyl. Model to work with the 7M-GTE engine. It is also a 5-speed now not an auto like before. I have some switches to activate the vacuum switches to go from lock to un-lock, but I’m just going to make it as simple as possible, as you can guess I have a lot of wiring in the truck!
Thanks again!
A.
