Cool,

I gotta get the tires and an alignment for the big change in lift (feds and TO's) and before Martinez. Neither are a real big deal to get done. Just gotta be done in proper order (ie lift first)

The Cornfeds are supposed to get here the end of this week or so.

Alright! If everything works out just right, I may be there when all this ground breaking experimentation is going on! Hey Robb, you think you'll be ready to hit Martinez by 9/14 or 9/15? I'm gonna be heading up to wheel w/Schaefer, I've got to try the most kick ass trail in the country! Plus a little testing in real world conditions is always fun.

That Depends mostly on the parts-suppliers (cornfeds and now Sequoia springs) at this point. . A time range worth aiming for though

Robb, you need to get an alignment AFTER the lift. Because the lift will change the caster/camber.

The best place in the Valley to get an alignment for a lifted 4X is Campus Alignment in Tempe. They were the ones who figured out the ATS arms and several out of town as well as everyone local here on these boards has pretty much went to them.

After sleeping on it, the shock is not going to matter. And we "Could" install the spacers and STILL get very accurate results.

What we'll do is use the tried and true top-of-rim-to-fender measurement BEFORE and then AFTER, deducting exacly 2" for the Cornbred/Revtek. Anything OVER 2" is lift from the coils.

Originally I did have a bit of lift from the V6 coils, but after a day or two on the street, that was gone and we were back to the 2" the spacers provided.

Robb is an excellent canidate, since he does have the 99 coils to fall back on. We'll take lots of comparison pics of the 2 coils.

Should be good.

.

Right, just like I cant get the new tires installed till after the lift either.

Heres what Im thinking, see if its reasonable, add/change where necessary:

Ill let you know when the Cornfeds get here. Ill wait (wont be easy )and not do anything with them before we do things at your shop, Steve.

When I get there, We can do all the spring swaps, photos and measurments wanted, then I can actually drive on the FrankenSequoia springs setup, and if the roadride is reasonable, (since Im used to the ride of 99 coils already Ill have a baseline, and Bamachem seemed to notice a love/hate difference in his coils within 4-5 miles) Ill then go and get aligned / get new tires. We can Remeasure a few days later for any additional droop on the Sequoia springs, Then its off to Martinez for Offroad testing.

Is that a reasonable plan of attack ?

----------------

Thanks for the recommendation on the alignment shop, Ill give them a shot when the time comes. Went through many hassles on my last truck with alignment shops.

Ok, you have the Revtek spacers and the Bilstein boots? Right?

We can get the longer bolts at ACE the day we do it, right there and Rural and Broadway.

Yes. Have those, and the diff spacer in greasy mitts right now .

PS. They sent the studs with the Revtek spacers too, so if you (or anyone else outthere in Yotatech land) know anybody who needs them, Im looking to unload them...

I'm looking forward to seeing the results of this. I sure wish I lived closer so I could participate in the testing...and maybe even run Martinez Canyon.

Robb: Do you have the TJM and winch on yet? Just looking at how your front end weight compares to mine. Maybe my SAWs need to be recharged but I was surprised to see my front end sag a bit after I installed the M8000 this weekend.

He will have a TJM-T-17 and a Warn winch. The same basically. He won't have the hoops.

But will have a steel winch line.

this may be a stupid question but if I put on the revtec 3/8 top spacer will I need to get a front end alignment. I just got a alignment and 1/2 of lift isnt worth paying for another right now. How much are the top spacers anyway?

Try to get some wheel travel figures as well when you are out testing. That would be interesting info.

Your front end will be out of alignment. Is wear on your tires worth it?

The spacers are about $50/pair + shipping.

Yes you will need an alignment, but if you already have 2.5", I would not go any higher.

I got mines kinda setup like Steves. Same shocks, stock 2000 coils, 2.5 cornfeds and the ride is really nice. I like this setup better than the SAW. Compression is soft and smooth and I can see how the Frankenstrut is really for crawling. Highway ride is smooth. Mines has settled some but not very much and I wouldn`t want to add the heavy aftermarket bumper with this setup but I guess that is where the Revtek spacer would step in. I still have the spacer and have not installed it. I really don`t see the need in my case since I like the height so far but I do plan on removing the rear stock cone bump stops to level the stance. Just wanted to say thanks to Steve for spreading the word on your work.

Well I hate to break the news to you but you have a plain and simple Cornbred lift. You DO NOT have the Frankenstrut.

The entire purpose of that is to split the load which the Cornbred only does not do. You are correct, the ride is nice, but your not Franked. Also if you go over 2", your not franked either, you blew your droop.

Oh I understand it is NOT at all like yours just similar in a way. I just wouldn`t have gone this route w/o first seeing your setup.

OK. The key to getting the max flex is the spacer placement and you did not exactly follow that formula. Just pointing that out.

Glad to hear you like it.

New discovery. Tundra TRD 4x4 Coils are NON PROGRESSIVE and will lift a NON-TRD 2x4 Tundra by 1.5". If this is true, then the cornfed IS NOT NEEDED. Only the OEM top plate, new studs, and the revtek topout.

I have some on the way to me to verify. Now, I need some topout spacers and revtek studs. Any volunteers?
